A MOTORIST who took a car without the consent of the owner has been given a community order, with a curfew.
Andrew Procter, 58, denied the offence - committed in Carlisle - but he was found guilty after a trial at the city's magistrates' court. The court heard that the defendant, from Gretna, committed the offence on July 11 when he took an Audi RS6 and drove it in Carlisle.
His community order includes an eight-week curfew, to run each day from 7pm to 7am. He must also pay a £95 victim surcharge and prosecution costs of £620. Procter was also given a two month driving ban.
