Councillors will hear an update on efforts to deliver affordable housing as well as an offer of funding from a Sustainable Warmth Competition.

Carlisle City Council’s Economic Growth Scrutiny Panel will meet in the Civic Centre’s Cathedral Room on October 21 and the public are welcome to attend.

The council will hear a Housing Delivery report, providing an update on efforts to provide affordable housing in Carlisle.

Councillors will hear about work to make Local Authority land available for affordable housing which can contribute to annual affordable housing targets being met.

The report also includes recommendations from the development sector on how to break barriers to delivery of affordable housing and worthwhile changes to the planning system.

Scott Burns, Regulatory Services Manager will update the council on proposals for the acceptance of grant funding, if offered, from the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy’s Sustainable 23 - 132 Warmth Competition.

Carlisle City Council could act as the lead authority of a Cumbrian consortium of district councils.
