A West Cumbrian MP has tested positive for coronavirus.
Workington MP Mark Jenkinson announced today that he has the virus and will be isolating.
Mr Jenkinson said: "Late on Friday night, I took a lateral-flow Covid test as I regularly do — that was negative.
"On Sunday morning I was alerted to the fact that a possible close contact from Thursday had tested positive.
"I had no symptoms, but took a lateral-flow test which showed as positive. In line with the guidance, I followed up with a PCR test and started self-isolation.
"My PCR test result has today came back positive and I will be continuing self-isolation, working from home.
"I am double-vaccinated and I have only very mild cold-like symptoms this morning."
He has said that anyone who has an upcoming in-person appointment will be contacted by his office.
