A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder, police have confirmed in the last 10 minutes.

The man, aged 23, from Carlisle has been arrested in connection with the death of another man in Carlyle's Court in the city centre last night.

Three other people were arrested in the early hours of today on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Superintendent David Pattinson said: “We can confirm a further arrest has been made in this investigation but a number of active lines of inquiry are ongoing.

“We continue to appeal for the public’s help and support and we are still appealing for anyone with information to contact us on the numbers below.”

Officers were called to Carlyle’s Court in Carlisle city centre at 8.48pm last night following a report that a man had been stabbed.

Despite the best efforts of first responders and medical staff, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.Police can confirm at this stage the man was aged in his mid-twenties and from Carlisle.

His family are being supported by specially trained officers although he has not yet been formally identified.
