POLICE are investigating the theft of booze from a lorry trailer outside the Stainmore Cafe on the A66.

The thief, or thieves, took the alcohol at some time between Wednesday, September 15, at 11.55pm and 5am yesterday, said a Cumbria Police statement.

Officers conducting the investigation want to hear from anybody who saw anything suspicious or from anybody who has dashcam footage from the car park at the relevant time.

The News & Star asked Cumbria Police if the force could provide any further information about what kind of alcohol was stolen and and how much.

But a spokesman said the force presently unable to provide any further information "at this time."
