A WEST Cumbrian motorist has given given a 17-month ban and a court bill of almost £800 after he admitted three offences.
Anthony Roberts, 37, had originally denied drink driving but changed his plea to guilty. Workington Magistrates Court heard that he committed the offences on December 8 last year.
He was driving a Hyundai Getz in Main Street, Frizington. At the time, he had 63mcg of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
The defendant, of Rowrah Road, Rowrah, had earlier admitted careless driving and failing to report an accident on the same day as the drink driving offence. The charge stated that the accident he failed to report involved damage to a pedestrian controlled signal traffic-light.
The defendant was given a community order, with 120 hours of unpaid work.
He was also fined £436, told to pay £250 costs and a £95 victim surcharge. His ban can be reduced if he pays for and completes a drink driver rehabilitation course.
