A MAN has donated a significant amount of money to charity after they had helped him and his family.

Putting on a pub quiz for everyone, James Langstaff

James Langstaff spoke of why he was raising money, and how hey decided to do it: "My Grandad suffered from a heart attack which caused him to have a triple heart by-pass and then during the operation he had a stroke.

"Fortunately he's alive thanks to the hard work of the NHS, I decided that it would be nice to give something back to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) because if it wasn't for their research then my grandad might not be alive to tell the tale.

"I decided to run a charity pub quiz in aid of BHF. with the help of Frank and Julie Wyer we ran it from the Sun Inn at Dearham, the pub was a weekly success and with the help of friends, family and the Sun Inn we raised £1,120 for the BHF.

"I was extremely grateful for the donations of the pub quiz goers, and a short speech on the Christmas pub quiz from my grandad had the pub in silence and awe knowing the money would make a difference.

"We presented the cheque to Emma Dickinson who is the fundraising manager from the BHF.

"She drove up and collected the cheque, she was extremely grateful and told us how the money would make a massive difference.

"We're starting our second season of Quizzes in aid of the BHF and we hope to surpass the target set to ensure more people like my grandad survive these ordeals.

"We are very grateful for the work done by the NHS and BHF."
