Police say they are investigating after seats were damaged at Carlisle United's away game against Hartlepool United.
The damaged areas included a disabled section in the away end at Victoria Park.
Images of the damage were shared on social media after Saturday's game.
It has left Pools facing the task of repairing the mindless damage which was inflicted during the League Two game, which the home side won 2-1.
Cumbria Police have now said they are working with their Cleveland counterparts on the matter.
This behaviour is not acceptable and not that which represents the majority of Carlisle supporters. An ongoing investigation with @ClePolFootball will be conducted into this and other work in the background alongside @officialcufc @CUOSC @CUFC_SLO Watch this space! 👀 #cufc https://t.co/5q8IpBrEaA

Police who travelled from Cumbria to work at the game used their dedicated Twitter account to comment on the situation on Sunday afternoon.
"This behaviour is not acceptable and not that which represents the majority of Carlisle supporters," they said.
The force added that an "ongoing investigation" with Cleveland Police will be conducted, while "other work in the background" will be done alongside Carlisle United, supporters' trust CUOSC and the Blues' supporters' liaison officer.
United fans have slammed the "idiots" who trashed seats at Hartlepool's ground.
Carlisle took about 1,000 fans to Victoria Park, and many of those have called for the individuals responsible for the damage to be punished and banned from attending future games.
Supporters said there was no excuse for the behaviour and that the "fans" who caused the damage do not represent Carlisle United.
Here are some examples of comments from Blues fans on social media in response to the images, which were taken by journalist Nick Loughlin and posted on Saturday night:
My question is why people choose to do this in the first place? There's only one place the responsibility for this sits & it's with the morons who did it, not the stewards for preventing it. It was entirely predictable as it's happened before. Absolutely shameful.

Surely they must be on camera. Get them and force them to do 600 hours community service for hartlepool United and disabled groups plus making them pay for the damage in full. Absolutely embarrassing and disgusting behaviour. Shameful.

Yep. CCTV. Ban them from BP & elsewhere then charge them the bill. Schimples. Intolerable.

@NClibbens hand in pocket? Let's show that these idiots don't represent our club!

Shameful, disgusting behaviour hope CCTV finds the culprits and they are banned from attending any Carlisle game home and away for life...no excuse for this behaviour. Also make them pay for the damage

And then ban them from attending any future games

The News & Star has approached both clubs for comment.
Police who travelled from Cumbria to work at the game said the great travelling support from Carlisle was "marred by a few individuals".
Safe journey back to all travelling @officialcufc @CUOSC fans. Great support as always marred by a few individuals. We do it all again Tuesday! #cufc pic.twitter.com/4reQnUorct
