A MAN who has a great love for the Lake District and her fells has got a very special tattoo in tribute to his special place.

Stephen Mather, 51, from Blackpool first fell in love with the Lake District as a 10 year old child on holiday with his parents.

After re-discovering his love for the area as an adult with his own family Stephen saw an image by a photographer and used it as inspiration for his very special artwork.

Talking about his idea to get the tattoo, Stephen said: "It all started in lock down I live in Blackpool and I love the Lake District and it's fells.

"This photographer took a photo and it was quite famous and I loved that photograph, so I got the idea for the tattoo from there.

"I wanted the photograph of them fells on my arm because I just love walking in the Lake District."

The tattoo has gotten Stephen much attention both on the internet and in the press which he said has been "strange" however that it had also been "amazing " to the reaction he had gotten to his artwork.

The Blackpool dad also created a mural for the back garden with his middle son Lewis, who designed the outside artwork and helped his father to get to the final design.

Talking about the words from his favourite song 'Iris' bu the Goo Goo Dolls Stephen said: "The song just sums up how I feel at the top of the fells,."

Stephen also made a nod to his beloved Blackpool Football Club by adding an orange colour to the design reflecting the teams famous tangerine football strips.
