Cumbrian Chris Harris has missed out on selection for the British & Irish Lions decider against South Africa.

The former Carlisle Rugby Club star has dropped out of the squad for this weekend's third Test.

Gloucester and Scotland centre Harris is among six players withdrawn from last Saturday's XV which went down to a 27-9 defeat to the Springboks.

The game in Cape Town saw former Trinity School boy Harris win his first Lions cap.

But Gatland has rung the chances for the crucial series decider.

He has brought in Josh Adams, Wyn Jones and Bundee Aki for their Lions test debuts, with Liam Williams, Ali Price and Ken Owens also coming into the team.

Gatland said: “The matchday 23 have an incredibly special opportunity in front of them – to seal a Lions Series victory in South Africa.

“It doesn’t get much bigger than this and we’re excited by the challenge that faces us on Saturday.

“We’ve no excuses from last week, the Springboks put us under pressure in the second half and deserved the win.

"We have to be much better than that second half performance, and I believe we will be.”

Kyle Sinckler, named among the replacements, has been cleared to be involved in the third Test after his charge for biting was dismissed by a citing panel.
