Cumbrian Nick Miller booked his place in the Olympic hammer final - and insisted there's more to come.

The Carlisle star advanced to Wednesday's final with a throw of 76.93 in today's qualifying.

Miller, from Scotby, is competing his his second Games in Tokyo.

He fouled with his first and third throws but his second attempt was enough to see him into Wednesday's final.

His finished in third place in Group A of the qualifying with his throw sixth best overall.

"I really prefer to compete in the evening, so I found the morning hard, but I did what I needed to do and I've made the final," said Miller, who is the British record holder.

"The second-round throw was a decent distance and what I needed on the board.

"Third in qualifying isn’t a bad place to finish but I know I have more to give.

"I’m going to go back to the village and begin my preparations for the final."

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Miller received a medical exemption from British Athletics to miss June's Olympic Trials.

His Team GB team-mate Taylor Campbell did not make it through to the final.
