University of Cumbria is open for clearing.

Future students should look no further as the annual process of clearing to secure a place at university this autumn begins this week.

The University has a dedicated team on hand to help anyone who is interested in starting university this year.

Academic lecturers will also be part of the University of Cumbria team discussing the application process, entry requirements, course details and any other queries from those seeking information and support.

Outreach officer Matthew Rayson, who is co-ordinating the university’s clearing team, said:

"It’s important to note that clearing is not just about A-level results day and that we are here to help anyone who missed the UCAS deadline earlier in the year, or people who might be looking for a career change.

"It’s not too late to apply to start a course with us this September,” added Matthew.

Putting it simply, ‘clearing’ is another way to secure a place at university to start from September this year. It is for anyone who has not met the entry requirements for their course or not received an offer.

However, clearing is not only just for current A-level pupils, it is for anyone who has decided to apply later in year, deferred their application, changed their minds or mature students considering a career change.

The University offers undergraduate, postgraduate and industry-led programmes across its respected fields of health, education, the arts, business and industry including law and policing, and science.

Many of its degree programmes include an option for students to do an integrated foundation year, which is suitable for those do not meet the entry requirements or did not take the right qualifications for the career they want.

Unlike last year the university is proud to be resuming in person campus tours for clearing applicants or the first time in two years while adhering to the latest safety advice.

They will run on consecutive days for different campus locations during clearing week. Thursday August 12 for Brampton Road, Carlisle and Ambleside campuses and Friday August 13 for Fusehill Street, Carlisle and Lancaster campuses and Saturday August 14 at all sites including London.

In addition, clearing applicants can attend a virtual open evening on Wed August 11 from 5pm - 7pm where they will be able to meet academic staff and find out more about their course and support services.

Frontline staff from many university departments will be using Teams to answer calls to its Clearing hotline - 0808 178 7373 - and online at: www.cumbria.ac.uk/clearing.
