Crews from Carlisle East are currently tackling a large fire on a farm near Waverton.
At 00:41 last night, eight fire engines were mobilised across North Cumbria to attend an incident on A596, Wigton.
The fire involved an agricultural building on a farm.
Firefighters used two hose reels and two ground monitors. Crews remain in attendance.
The fire involves hay, and various farm equipment, and the construction is believed to be made of asbestos.
A spokesperson for the station has asked residents that live nearby to keep their windows closed.
