Fans were back at Brunton Park to watch Carlisle United go down to a 1-0 pre-season friendly defeat to Championship side Blackpool.

Some of the Blues faithful gave us their views on the game – and what it was like to return to the stadium after a wait of several months.

Defensively solid against a very good side who controlled the game. Passing needs to improve a bit but should’ve got a deserved equaliser late on. Brilliant to stand in the Paddock being critical of professional footballers again after a couple of Morettis (@parkinsonross)

It was great to be back at Brunton Park to watch the Blues. Think most disappointing thing was they broke away after our corner and scored, but the lad’s control was brilliant and it was a well taken goal. We were pretty solid at the back but very little service for Abrahams and Clough. It all changed for the better when Toure and Manny came on and nearly got that equaliser. Hope Feeney is OK after coming off injured. Good turnout 1,800 fans. Roll on next Friday. (@EricGre35402887)

Enjoyed the return from a different perspective in the Pioneer Stand. A lively game with some good United defending but sadly not too much in the attacking department in the first half especially, although not through lack of trying against good opposition. (@LindaNi1212020

Didn’t help losing Feeney early doors and the consequential shuffle at the back. Thought the CBs kept Yates reasonably quiet. Struggled to get our playmakers on the ball until Blackpool changed their team. Deserved to nick a draw. (@johny_wood)

A game of two halves and three teams, given the number of subs that Blackpool put on in one go. Given the huge leap in opposition quality from the previous friendlies (no disrespect) I thought we did well. Pitch looked glorious and the coffee is great too (@Rob_burn5)

Really good resilience to give them a fight even after going a goal down, defence switched off entirely for their goal but apart from that it was a satisfactory performance. (@YTKaen)

Defensively very sound. Midfield not bad. Definitely lacking up top that’s where we need to focus on. A big target man would be nice (@xx_glenny)

Don’t know where people are getting were defensively sound. Thought Hayden was poor. Gets caught out of position far too much for a player who’s a central defender. Armer did well when he moved to CB. You could tell the difference in levels clear as day. Nonetheless, good test (@bazovcarlisle)

Need an experienced centre half. Looked decent at the top end of the pitch (@cjmurray007)

Good effort, looked like we were playing a Liverpool's under-23 side in the first 30 mins the way they were passing the ball around. Hayden trying to do to much, and getting himself out of position a few times at centre half. More white wash needed on the lines. (@stansanczuk)
