A FINE was issued to a man from Sunderland for stealing lead and copper scrap metal in Penrith.
Adam Fredrick Watson, 27, of Houghton le Spring appeared at North and West Magistrates Court sitting in Rickergate on Thursday. He was accused of stealing lead and copper belonging to A W Jenkinson Ltd in Penrith. Watson pleaded guilty to stealing £200 worth of the scrap metal and was ordered to pay £200 in compensation.
The defendant’s guilty plea taken into account when imposing sentence. No order for costs was made due to the compensation imposed and lack of means.
