On a baalmy day a mountain rescue team were tasked with a mission 'almost' impossible.
Cockermouth mountain rescue team Were called to action when a sheep had become trapped near Eagle Crag close to Stonethwaite.
Four members of the team went to rescue the sheep after a farmer had called for help.
Tom Durcan for Cockermouth Rescue team said: "A farmer had reported the sheep to us but we had no idea how long it had been there.
"four of us took some equipment up there. We lowered one guy down who strapped the sheep to him and using a pulley we pulled them back up.
"This was the third sheep rescue call we have had in recent weeks. They're great training as they tend to get in places humans can't they also allow us a little more time to plan."
