News and Star readers are in disagreement with plans for a new housing site that will hold 157 new homes.

The planning application has been submitted and it may well go ahead despite being described as controversial.

Tim Patterson said: "What's the most annoying part of this is it seems like we are constantly getting huge new estates built thousands of homes yet it doesn't ever seem to get easier for the average person to get on the property ladder."

"Are they actually building the type of affordable houses that are needed or just knocking up any old estate wherever they see a patch of grass."

Andy Sabin-Hope said: "There does seem to be a lot of very large housing estates being built around Carlisle. Why is that and where is the additional infrastructure of schools, water supplies, roading and health services."

Anne Matear said: "No. But yes to green fields, woodland and meadows. Good for our mental wellbeing."

Heidi Hilland said: "More green land for houses there is going to be nothing left."

It seems that Carlisle residents are concerned that if more hosing plots continue to be built there will be a lack of natural spaces for people to enjoy.

People are also wary that their may not be enough local facilities to sustain the extra people that will start living in the community.

The plans have been in discussion since February 2020, but so far there have been eleven direct objections concerning sustaining the city's infrastructure.

Yet part of the application was for a commitment of £700,000 for education provision and highway improvements.
