A CARLISLE animal charity has helped a horse to recover back to full health after arriving to them in an unhealthy state.

The horse, named Stardust, arrived at Oak Tree Animal Charity in June last year.

The charity’s social media page stated: “She was holding an immense amount of weight for her size.”

“Since arriving, Stardust has lost over 100kg through exercise and restricting her grass and hay intake.”

Stardust is eight years old and can be used as a project horse or pony.

The charity are looking for a family or individual to care for her.

They state that whoever takes over her care must ensure that they can progress her education and ensure that she stays fit and healthy.

This is over concern that when Stardust came into their hands she was obese.

Oak Tree’s website stated: “She loves hacking out and seeing her surroundings as she is a curious pony.”

“Stardust is good to lead, however she isn’t overly keen on being groomed, though will stand quietly with encouragement.”

“She can also be difficult with the farrier on occasions, although she is good with the vet."

Every year Oak Tree welcomes around four hundred animals into their sanctuary.

Along with Stardust, there are many other animals looking for a loving home.
