Older readers will remember when Carlisle Library was located in Tullie House before the new Museum was built. The Library moved to its current location in the Lanes development in 1986.
Today, we feature some of the staff who were working in the library in 1969. Margaret Brown, 21, dealt with readers’ enquiries at the library where she had worked for over a year in 1969.
Working in the reference section was Mrs Judith Bucknall. She lived in Bedford Road in the city.
Eighteen year old Kathleen Irving hailed from Blackwell Road and her ambition was to study librarianship at college. Sylvia Drake, 19, lived in Currock and worked in the children’s department of the library.
