Today we’ve been flicking back through our archives of dancing across the county.
Cumbria has a proud tradition of dance schools and we feature some of them here.
One of the biggest local dance events is Maryport’s Queen of the Solway Dance Festival which started back in 1982 and some of the original dancers now take their own children to compete in the spectacular festival.
Originally just for local competitors, it extended its reach to pull in competitors from the North East, Lancashire and Scotland in the last few years.
Over in Carlisle dance classes are just as popular. Many people will remember with fondness their dancing classes.
And hopefully young Cumbrians will continue to trip the light fantastic for many years to come.
