Works to install a new pedestrian crossing on in a west Cumbrian town have been completed.

The new pedestrian crossing on Church Road in Harrington was included in the planning approval for the nearby Bellaport Gardens housing development.

The new crossing is intended to assist pedestrian access to and from the nearby Beckstone Primary School, as well as other nearby local amenities including shops, pharmacy, and nursery.

ocal member for Harrington and Salterbeck, Councillor Marjorie Rae, said: "I am pleased to see that works to install the new crossing have been completed – this will really improve access for local residents, particularly parents and children attending the nearby primary school.

"The new crossing will also help to enhance road safety in the local area by helping to reduce traffic speed through the village."

The design of the new crossing is also intended to reduce traffic speeds along Church Road and improve general road safety within Harrington.
