Plans for a gym in Penrith have been approved by Eden District Council.
The site at 14 King Street, Penrith, was recently acquired by RHM (Cumbria) Ltd and since April it has leased the building to Strength and Fitness Gym Ltd.
The King Street frontage comprises a relatively modern two-storey slate-roofed building between two three-storey older buildings, the one on the left side being the listed Lounge Bar. Part of the three-storey building to the right is also occupied by offices.
The plans confirm: “None of this forms part of the [...] application and will not change. The storage shed behind (which forms the basis of this application) is a single-storey building with sandstone walls and a tiled roof. It has no distinctive architectural features or historic significance.”
