People across Cumbria are being invited to a popular market.

Held at Egremont Market Hall, the Egremont Farmers' Market is set to take place on Friday (June 18), and everyone in welcome.

And with 12 stalls featuring a range of Cumbrian traders, there's plenty on offer for all, including Helen's Herbs, Pie Demand, Lakes Leather Studio, Felted and Fleece, Kick-Ass Cheese, fairtrade products and so much more.

Market chair, Helen Shipton-Smith, said: "Shopping locally and supporting the Cumbrian business who attend the market is so important, especially at this difficult time.

"It's always good to support markets like this, because it keeps local money local – you're supporting the community and real people as well as their businesses.

"There really is something for everyone at the market, and it would be great to see more people coming along to enjoy it."

She added: "People often worry that products at farmers' markets are quite expensive, but they're actually very reasonably priced, so it never hurts to have a look at what's on offer!"

The event runs from 9.30am-12.30pm each month, and visitor safety is ensured, with a one-way system in place, reduced numbers of people entering, social distancing, hand sanitiser and mask-wearing.

But it's not just visitors that the committee is appealing for, as the group would also be delighted to welcome some fresh faces.

"We're always looking for more people to help out on the committee, especially younger people, and those who live in the area," Helen said.

"It's been quite a struggle at the moment with all the limitations we have due to Covid, so every volunteer or committee member is a big help."
