KESWICK Mountain Rescue Team has helped a walker who was injured after a stumbling fall on Catbells.

The team were alerted after the man fell on a rocky section of ground near the fell's Skelgill Bank summit.

He suffered cuts to his head.

The casualty was checked over by the team doctor and given pain relief before being walked off under supervision to a waiting ambulance.

He was then transferred to Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary for further checks.

The team thanked other walkers who looked after the man while waiting for help to arrive.

The operation yesterday afternoon involved nine team members and lasted 90 minutes.
