A PLAY area is set to receive a makeover in the coming weeks.

Improvements works are set to begin on the play area at Hunters Crescent, Carlisle, next week.

The Carlisle City Council scheme has been funded by local developer contributions, and will involve replacing three pieces of worn-out play equipment, including swings, seesaw and spring rockers.

New rubber surfacing will also be installed across the site.

To allow the works to take place, part of the play area will be closed to the public from Monday (June 14), allowing the new equipment to be installed safely and efficiently.

Once this has been completed, the whole site will closed for a short period to allow the re-surfacing work to take place.

All the works on the play area are expected to take about two weeks to complete.

Councillor Elizabeth Mallinson, Portfolio holder for Health and Wellbeing, said: “The funding will allow for some new equipment to be installed and for the surface of the whole play area to be made safer.

"We appreciate the support of local residents, and welcome their patience during the improvement works.”
