Two kind volunteers will be taking place in an arduous sporting challenge to raise funds for dementia services right here in North Cumbria.
Volunteers Jordan Mattinson and his good friend Callum Swindale are taking part in the John West Great North Swim 2021 on Saturday 12th June, each swimming one mile to raise vital funds for our Dementia services in Copeland.
They stated: "The event takes place at Brockhole on Windermere and every penny raised will go towards expanding our Dementia Services here in Copeland including introducing new activities for our Memory Cafe including Art Therapy and Singing for the Brain sessions.
"We also hope to raise enough funds to purchase a Magic interactive table - a Tover Tafel which has been proven to increase positive emotions as play is the ultimate solution for elderly people living with dementia."
Set up by Copeland Age and Advice Service, The Memory Cafe service for the elderly originally launched during Dementia Awareness Week back in May.
The Dementia Café runs from 11am until 12.30pm at the Whitehaven RUFC ground, the Playground on Richmond Terrace in Whitehaven, fortnightly each Tuesday.
