A FAMILY fun Music festival is coming to Carlisle this year and it promises to be a treat for all ages.

The festival will see Mick Jagger's brother Chris Jagger come to town to headline the shows on the Friday night with popular Carlisle band Hardwicke Circus headlining Saturday nights stage.

The event comes as a welcome surprise to many after the cancellation of festivals last year due to Covid.

With tea leaf/tarot card reading and a mobile escape room from 'Red Herring Escape rooms.

The organisers of this years festival felt it important to go ahead after people have been denied access to live music throughout the pandemic.

Dan Russell, who is part of the collective that are organising the festival, said: "Thwre's so much talent in Carlisle it's amazing, it's coming out of the woodwork you could sayand we've had all these wonderful musicians growing up at the source and become professional for example, Hardwicke Circus.

"They've been coming to the source since they were about 11 and now their really doing well on the circuit and I think there gonna be great."

Hardwicke Circus are a popular local band that have now reached fame in the music world recently releasing their debut album, having performed with the likes of Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond in recent years.

Dan has been supporting the band since they were young and looks forward to watching them at Wild on the Wall in August.

Dan said: "Its part of my desire to celebrate the wonderful entertainment that we have in Cumbria and Carlisle, and also to do it in an exquisite surroundings, just by the Roman wall. It's really beautiful to be camping there."

"It's just such a good atmosphere of musicians who are coming and they are all coming basically voluntarily to play because we get on so well together.

"I think it's unique actually."

The festival did take place in 2019, however this year is set to be bigger and better than ever before with festival goers advised to camp for the weekend at the site on Hadrian's Wall.

Food and drinks venues will be available with the organisers of Wild on the Wall priding themselves on using local business within all elements of the festival's running.

The event will allow festival goers to have their own opportunity to be themselves performers, with campfire singing round the sites very own bonfire that is set to continue in the early hours of the morning.

Poppy Rowan, who is another member of the group that has organised the festival said: "‘Supporting local musicians and businesses, has been at the heart of this project. From legendary names like Chris Jagger and Hardwicke Circus, to locally sourced talent, there is a great variety of music that will be showcased, as well as a great variety of family-orientated activities."

"We have food and drink from local businesses, free camping on site and a jam around the bonfire to end the weekend staycation! We are truly excited to welcome you to Dan Russell’s field."
