A COUPLE from Sunderland have left a memorial at Derwentwater to remember their beloved dog Jake.
Hannah and Jimmy Sandforth, both 35, left tennis balls at Friar’s Cragg on the shores of the lake last weekend to honour their beloved 15-year-old Labrador who died of old age earlier this month.
The couple visited with family over the weekend and left the balls to allow other dogs to enjoy the area that Jake loved so much.
Jimmy said: “He loved a tennis ball and he loved the Lakes, so we just thought: 'let's do this',
“That’s why it meant so much, because it was a special place for all of us.”
The couple first got Jake a year into their relationship at 18. He attended their engagement at Friar’s Cragg and took prime position at their wedding in St Bega’s Church at Bassenthwaite.
Speaking about the Labrador, Jeremy said: “He was our baby boy.
“When you’d had a bad day he’d just jump on the sofa and everything was all right.”
