After a desperate plea to get new leg braces for a dog in need, a charity has celebrated reaching its goal.

Carlisle-based Miracle's Mission has helped more than 6,000 animals and 100 disabled dogs since its inception.

With dog Bella needing replacement leg braces but the financial toll of searching for a new home meaning the charity needed help to pay for them, it appealed for the public's help.

As soon as the post on social media was shared, the community rallied and collected the funds which have now paid for the items Bella needs to help her on her journey to recovery and to live her best life.

Founder Victoria Bryceson said: "Thank you so much to everybody who donated for Bella’s leg braces.

"She is in action trying them on.”

Miracle’s Mission recently won seven acres of land in Gainsborough to house even more injured and neglected pooches.

The organisation nurses the animals back to health, teaching them to live with their disabilities and thrive.

A new loving home is found for the dogs after they are rehabilitated.

When news came in that the charity had won its own forever home at auction, Victoria said: “We’ve been trying for over a year to get places and we’ve always either been outbid or gone to see it and there’s something wrong.

“This place came up and it’s literally perfect so we’ve been really campaigning for donations.”

Victoria is passionate about her work.

“We’re going to help so many more and that means everything," she added.

"We rescue them and get them as mobile as possible again and rehome them.”

Rehoming the dogs not only means giving them a life as a loved pet but also frees up the service to help even more animals.

Victoria is motivated to continue her rewarding work on a wider scale.
