SOCIAL distancing on buses in England will end next week with more seats available following a Government ruling and falling cases of Coronavirus.

For the first time since before the Covid-19 outbreak, bus operators have been given the green light to make forward facing seats available, doubling their capacity.

Social distancing and reduced capacity is set to end on Monday following the ruling.

Bus operators like Stagecoach have been making a number of seats unavailable on their vehicles during the pandemic to prevent people from different households sitting next to each other and potentially spreading Coronavirus.

The move to ease restrictions on public transport comes as Covid-19 cases continue to diminish and vaccines are rolled out to the over forties.

The plans were drawn up by the bus industry and signed off by the Department for Transport.
