MOUNTAIN rescuers were called to a Lake District fell after a paraglider was injured in a 'heavy landing'.
Keswick Mountain Rescue member say the casualty was hurt in a heavy landing after his machine suffered a "partial canopy collapse."
It happened at Blease Fell on Blencathra shortly after mid-day.
The alarm was quickly raised thanks to a team member already being in the area at the time.
Medics from the Great North Air Ambulance (GNAAS) were deployed to the scene and quickly assessed the paraglider, providing pain relief.
"Keswick Mountain Rescue Team members placed the man in a vacuum mattress and stretchered him a short distance up the hill to the helicopter which transferred him to Carlisle hospital," said a statement.
The operation involved 12 mountain rescue team members, who worked for almost two hours.
There are presently no details about the paraglider or his injuries.
