POLICE are investigating whether a Covid-19 regulation breach took place after a video appearing to show former Celtic manager Neil Lennon at a Carlisle Hotel circulated online.

The clip, seen by the News and Star, was widely shared on social media, apparently showing Lennon in Halston Hotel on Tuesday night.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "Cumbria Police have been made aware of a video circulating online. The matter is being investigated to ascertain whether any breach of Coronavirus regulations has taken place.

"It would be inappropriate to comment further whilst this investigation takes place."

The force did not confirm whether the man in the video was Neil Lennon.

While hospitality venues in England have been allowed to serve customers outside since Monday, current restrictions mean travelling between Scotland and England is still banned unless for essential and work purposes.

Cumbria Police later issued a second statement updating the situation, which can be read here
