Firefighters were called out to tackle a blaze which started from a gas cooker last night.

Crews were called out to the fire at a house on Beach Road in St Bees at around 8.30pm.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel and a thermal imaging camera to put out the blaze.

They were in attendance for about an hour and a half.

Two fire engines were called out to the incident - one from Egremont and another from Whitehaven Fire Station.
