PROPOSALS for a new housing development in a Cumbrian town have been given the green light.

Developer eQualtiy Homes will build 22 new homes, consisting of bungalows and two, three, and four-bed properties in Kirby Stephen.

eQuality Homes is a not-for-profit organisation focused on making home ownership more accessible.

Tom Woof, founding member of eQuality Homes, says “Sustainability is a core feature of eQuality Homes developments.

"As such the development will not only offer high-quality, stylish homes, but also homes that will be built to exceptionally high energy efficiency standards.

"The homes will feature various “green” elements such as solar panels and we are also currently pursuing a community heating system to help reduce heating costs further.”

The plans also include a community green to provide an open space for residents to enjoy. The company say it was included so residents can enjoy life both in and outside their homes.

Work is expected to begin on the site within the next 12 months.
