READERS of the News and Star have been sharing the things they are most looking forward to when lockdown restrictions are eased next week.

The second phase of step one in Boris Johnson's 'road map' is set to take place on March 29 - all being well.

Changes include outdoor gatherings in private gardens, the reopening of outdoor sports facilities, and the end of the 'stay at home' rule.

And it seems as though the public are looking forward to the easing of restrictions, with many people saying they were looking forward to finally seeing their families.

Mel Eland said: "Hugging my mum, only had one hug since second week in March and that was Christmas day."

Grant Stewart added: "Just taking off somewhere camping for a weekend with good friends copious amounts of rum and the great outdoors."

Others had bigger plans - Sarah Barnes said: "Getting married - after six postponements and rearrangements from May 2020, hopefully our day will happen in September."

Sophie Hogg had seen similar problems - she added: "Getting married after postponing it 4 times since July last year!"

Alcohol played a role in a number of suggestions - Darren Hudson in particular sounded like he has big plans.

He said: "Getting smashed on six pints, adopting a t-Rex stance and trying to focus with my stevie wonder eyes... and seeing family."

George Barnfather wrote: "Getting to a pub, not just for a pint - but to see other people without masks."

Despite their eagerness, they'll have to wait a little longer yet - pub beer gardens don't open until April!

However, not everyone was feeling as positive - Julie Smith said: "Spending my spare time wondering when the next lockdown will be announced!"

The ending of the stay at home rule does not mean restrictions have ended - people should still encourage to work from home and minimise the number of journeys they can make where possible, and travel abroad will continue to be prohibited.
