We all know the Lake District is one of the most picturesque places to go.

But new data shows that it is the top five most instagrammable places to propose in the UK in 2021.

Coming in at fourth place, the study by Est1897 reveals the best local spot to propose in the Lake District for when lockdown is lifted.

Despite many of us having our lives altered by lockdowns, proposals look to be on the rise. Searches for engagement rings have increased by 27 per cent from last year, with many of us now looking online.

Searches for ‘how to propose’ have increased by 28 per cent during the last year, meaning many of you are looking for inspiration on how to make the perfect proposal whilst we can’t travel.

Ben Jarrett at Est1897 said: "Lockdown restrictions over the last year have put a halt to both weddings and proposals for many couples. Whilst jetting off to pop the question is currently not an option there are some amazing local spots in the UK for a romantic proposal.

"We’ve sourced some of the most Instagrammable local locations, perfect for that special moment to inspire those looking to pop the question in 2021. We do advise couples to check national and local lockdown restrictions before visiting these hotspots."

The Lake District boasts several romantic spots, it is perhaps the most popular spot in the UK for proposals. Whether after a long hike, on a boat ride across one of the lakes, or in one of the Cumbrian towns dotted across the National Park, there are countless locations for declaring your love.

These are some of the best spots across the Lake District to propose:

1. Derwentwater

Give your loved one a proposal they won't forget by proposing on a rowing boat on Cumbria's prettiest lake. It'll feel like it was taken straight out of their favourite rom-com, it'll be that romantic.

2. Ennerdale Water

This glacial lake is located in the Western lakes, this secluded spot is the perfect place to pop the question away from the tourists. Est1897 recommend taking a romantic picnic and enjoying the views.

It's not hard to see why many call this the most picturesque lake in the Lake District. This romantic spot offers undisrupted views surrounded by a gorgeous woodland setting perfect for that insta-worthy proposal snap.
