A 29-year-old woman has been rocked by a diagnosis of stage four bowel cancer.

Callie Morris lost her dad to the disease three years ago and is now facing her own battle after receiving the devastating news in February - just two weeks after she moved into her new home with her fiancée, Alexandra Briggs.

Scans showed the cancer had spread to her liver and lymph nodes. It came as a huge shock to the couple, as Callie hadn't even been particularly unwell.

Alexandra said: "Callie hadn't been too well, just the odd stomach problem nothing out of the ordinary.

"Because of her Dad, I was adamant that we got it seen to. We went to the doctors and the tests came back normal - but her symptoms got a bit worse so we went back."

The couple are now desperately trying to achieve all the things they wanted to in life in the time Callie has left.

They are desperate for a baby and have already been through three rounds of fertility treatment which has been unsuccessful twice and on the other occasion resulted in a pregnancy loss.

Callie, who is autistic, and Alexandra hope to get married and take a holiday while they still can.

Callie said: "From the very begining we were very clear about what we wanted out of life - a baby, to get married.

"Now there's a high probability that I won't be here. The diagnosis I've got, even if the chemo works it's not curable. It's going to be at best years worth of treatment.

"I have been realistic - at least once I'm gone Alexandra will still have a life.

"You go through life thinking you're going to have the rest of your life to do everything, and then you get told it's not the case. It's not something you can get your head around."

Because Callie and Alexandra are a same-sex couple, they do not get any fertility treatment on the NHS. As a result, a Go Fund Me page has been set up to help raise money for the treatment and - to pay for a holiday. Alexandra added: "We just have to concentrate on living and doing the things that make us happy."
