SUFFERERS from HIV in England and Wales can now choose to have the Covid-19 vaccine at a specialist clinic.

NHS England guidance has been updated, allowing people living with HIV to have the vaccine at specialist clinics, without sharing their positive status with their GP.

Official guidance was updated as campaigners feared that one in five people living with HIV may not take up the chance to be vaccinated for fear of discrimination and stigma.

People with HIV are in vaccine priority groups four to six which means they will be offered a jab by the middle of April, at the latest.

NHS England have been at pains to encourage those with HIV to register with their GP, making them aware of the diagnosis so they can receive the best care available.

However, specialist HIV clinics will be available locally for those who do not feel comfortable sharing the information.
