THE PUBLIC are being encouraged to learn more about phase two of the West Cumberland Hospital redevelopment plan in an upcoming virtual event.

The North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust will update the public on phase two of the hospital development, in Teams meeting this week.

The virtual event will take place on Thursday February 25 at 4pm.

A spokesperson for NCIC said: “Late last year a £40 million investment to deliver phase 2 of the West Cumberland Hospital redevelopment was approved by NHS Improvement.

They said: “It will bring a huge upgrade in facilities for both patients and staff creating a better environment, retaining bed capacity and services for the site and improving the capacity to undertake additional planned operations in the future.”

Phase two of NCIC’s redevelopment will ultimately see 40 per cent of the original structure replaced.

Works will build on the £90 million first phase of the project which was completed in 2015.
