With the Prime Minister having announced a roadmap for Britain's next steps in combating Covid-19, alongside when the Government are expecting to gradually ease current restrictions, many readers will be dreaming of when they can sip an ice-cool beer in the sun once more.

Pub goers may now have a chance to soak up the sun in a beer garden with a pint of their favourite tipple in upcoming months if continued regulations prove a success.

This week, we asked you for our region's best beer gardens.

Here, in no particular order are some of the recommendations.

1 ROYAL SCOT, CARLISLE

Based on Langrigg Road in Morton has an outdoor seating area for customers.

Jono Ogilvie, who voiced his recommendation for the pub, said:

“[There is a] dog friendly area and also an outside bar area, could you want any more?”

2 LANE BAR, CARLISLE

The cocktail bar, on Long Lane, by Fisher Street in the city centre, also has some outdoor seating for customers.

Julie Elliot said: “The flowers, sun, and seating arrangements make you feel like you’re in a country garden not in the middle of town.

“Also, it’s a beautiful suntrap.”

3 CUMBERLAND INN, CARLISLE

Located on Botchergate in the city centre, The Cumberland Inn also has some outdoor seating, which backs out on to the neighbouring Carlisle train station.

The pub serves a range of drinks and meals.

Craig Lamont, who praised the pub to us online, said: “It’s cool with the breeze up Colliers Lane but still catches the sun.

“Excellent choice of beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic)."

4 STATION HOTEL, PENRITH

Based on Castlegate, near to Penrith train station, the hotel and pub is open seven days a week.

Mark Weir said: “The Station Hotel, Penrith.

“Great view of the castle.”

5 CROWN INN, POOLEY BRIDGE

She said: “The Crown Inn at Pooley Bridge.

“It has a riverside garden, roof terrace, outside bar, and table service.”

6 SWINSIDE INN, KESWICK

The inn, based on Newlands Valley, is a favourite of Becky Roberts

She said: "The inn at Keswick, or the Coldale Inn, also at Keswick.

“Both have fabulous views.”

7 BRANTWOOD BAR, PENRITH

Reader Sandra Stoker told us: “It has great staff, a gin hour, plus fantastic gardens.”

So there we have it, more than enough choices for us to begin dreaming of better days to come!
