NO new coronavirus deaths have been recorded at Northumbria Healthcare hospitals for the second day running.

It comes after 30 people died in the previous seven days. According to NHS England, the death toll from COVID-19 at the trust's hospitals remains at 523.

Public Health England's latest data showed that 14,479 people have now tested positive for the virus in Northumberland since the start of the pandemic, an increase of 65 on yesterday's figure.

Northumberland County Council's dashboard, which provides data on cases on a council ward level, has not been updated since yesterday.

Nationally, the deaths of 592 people who died within 28 days of a positive test were confirmed yesterday, bringing the total death toll to 98,531 since the start of the pandemic.

An additional 22,195 people tested positive for coronavirus yesterday, bringing the total number of cases across the UK to 3,669,658.
