As the weather continues to to ravage the county, the Met office issue another weather warning.

Cumbria has been left to close the flood gates and batten down the hatches while the roads have been flooded and the temperature drops.

As of Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at 5pm, we are aware of issues on the following roads.

  • M6 Southbound J43 Carlisle Rosehill - two lanes closed due to carriageway safety concerns. Expect delays.
  • B5301 Aspatria to Arkleby closed due to flooding at Arkleby Bridge. The River Ellen has burst its banks.
  • B5289 Borrowdale Road closed due to a burst water main at Barrow Lodge.
  • Carlisle Rickerby Park Road closed due to flooding from the River Eden.
  • Meathop - Meathop Road blocked due to flooding between Holme Farm and Grange Golf Club.
  • A6071 Irthing Bridge near Brampton was completely blocked earlier.
  • A6070 - partially blocked by flooding at Clawthorpe corner near Burton-in-Kendal.
  • A69 partially blocked by flooding between Warwick Bridge and Brampton.
  • A7 Westlinton to Sandysyke partially blocked by flooding.
  • B5302 Waverbridge to Abbeytown flooding at Wheyrigg Hall corner.
  • Carlisle Newbiggin Road - Durdar to Brisco Crossroads. The road was closed overnight.
  • Skitby Road flooding between Scaleby and Houghton.
