Weather and travel warnings remain in place for icy conditions across Cumbria after the widespread snowfall in recent days.

A Met Office, yellow weather, warning for ice is in place until 8am this morning and causing problems for some motorists.

Here's which roads are closed due to the weather:

  • B5289 closed due to snow between Keswick turn off (Buttermere) and B5292 (Braithwaite turn off, Lorton).
  • Corney Fell Road closed due to snow in the Lake District.
  • Newlands Pass closed due to snow in the Lake District.

A yellow warning for snow and ice is also in place for tomorrow.

A band of heavy snow may lead to travel disruption from 3am on Saturday morning until 9pm tomorrow night.

What to expect:

  • There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel
  • There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
  • A small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • A small chance that untreated pavements and cycle paths become dangerous, posing a greater risk of injury

Gritters were out in force overnight to treat the roads, but people are still urged to take care and only travel if absolutely necessary.
