A CARLISLE man has been prosecuted for attempting to steal a car battery.
Andrew Mitchell, 31, of Waldergrave Road, Longsowerby, admitted trying to steal the £85 battery from Halfords, on London Road, in Carlisle on January 3 this year.
At the city’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court, he was fined £80 and told that he must pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
In court, he was represented by defence lawyer John Smith.
The magistrates in court said that they had taken the defendant’s guilty plea to the offence into account as they passed sentence.
