After decades of fun, laughter and good times, a nursery school has said goodbye and thank you to a popular member of staff.

It was a day of celebration and farewells for Cleator Moor Nursery School, as senior teaching assistant Patricia Blair officially stepped down from her beloved role, ready for a taste of the retired life.

Pupils and colleagues marked the day with a special party for Patricia, remembering all the good times they’ve had together throughout her 25 years working at the school.

The youngsters were thrilled to present their adored teaching assistant with armfuls of gifts and flowers, given by the school as well as parents who were sad to see her go after so many years of supporting their children.

After receiving so many lovely treats, Patricia had to give something back, and presented the school – and the very excited youngsters – with her own gifts to decorate the nursery garden with.

It’s not just pupils who have benefitted from her care and devotion over the years, but the entire Cleator Moor community.

Patricia has spent her life acting as a key figure for all – something she is sure to continue while enjoying her retirement.

Headteacher Lisa Wilson said: “Patricia has worked in the Cleator Moor community for nearly 41 years.

“She is an amazing lady who has been a wonderful colleague and friend, and is a natural with any child she takes care of.

"Her sense of fun and humour shines through as she makes sure each child is nurtured to reach their full potential."

She continued: "All of us will miss her enormously, but we send all our love and congratulations for her well-deserved retirement, and on the adventures to come."
