Members of Workington Derwent Rotary and Workington Derwent Inner Wheel have packed and distributed 150 Christmas hampers
Some people are in for a lovely Christmas surprise, as members of Workington Derwent Rotary and Workington Derwent Inner Wheel organised the packing and distribution of hundreds of Christmas hampers.
Rotary and Inner Wheel members packed a total of 150 hampers, made possible through funding from The Abbeyfield Society over-55 Community First Fund, with the help of Cumbria Community Foundation.
They worked with other local organisations to distribute family bags of food donated by Morrisons.
People were recommended for hampers by social workers, Citizen's Advice Bureau, churches and schools.
Workington Derwent Rotary will be holding a street collection outside of Haigh's, Workington, on December 19 and 20, from 10am to 3pm.
