NHS Dumfries & Galloway have recorded another decrease in coronavirus cases.

Health bosses said in the week ending December 13, Sunday, there were 27 cases, down from 36 the week before.

Last week, ending December 6, they said the number of cases had actually rose from 30 in the week ending November 29.

There was also a fall in the number of identified close contacts, down to 128 compared to 184 in the previous week.

A total of 3226 covid-19 tests were carried out last week, compared to 3485 the previous week, and the locally calculated positivity rate stands at 1.1 per cent.

A spokeswoman for NHS Dumfries & Galloway said: "Positive cases of covid-19 are continuing to be identified across all four localities.

"There is evidence that community transmission is limited, but there is evidence that people identified as close contacts of cases are developing covid-19."
