A west Cumbrian council has asked residents to consider alternatives to wrapping paper this Christmas.
Copeland Council has made the request as, like many councils, its recycling teams are not able to collect gift wrapping paper.
The council has explained that it cannot be recycled due to the fact that much of it is glittery, foiled or plasticised.
To help reduce waste, the council has asked residents to consider using alternatives when wrapping gifts this Christmas.
A spokesman for the council said: "Please consider using alternative wrappings like reuseable bags, plain brown paper or even newspaper."
The council also suggested visiting this webpage for inspiration.
