DUMFRIES & Galloway has put out a warning after a report by an industry body said that more than half of the toys they bought online had "serious safety failures".
The report was issued by the British Toy and Hobby Association which said that lots of families will be looking for online bargains because of shop closures and financial pressures caused by covid-19.
A council spokesman said: "While toys made by reputable companies comply with strict safety standards, overseas sellers can sell unsafe products through well-known online marketplace and trading standards officers can find it very difficult to prosecute."
