Jarrad Branthwaite is already one of the fastest players in the star-studded Everton squad, according to England frontman Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The striker named Cumbrian teenager Branthwaite among four who he reckons would be quickest in a race at Goodison Park.

Branthwaite, 18, would hold his own against other speed merchants at the Premier League club, in Calvert-Lewin's view.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the frontman named those who would be his top contenders in a race.

He said: "I think if it was a flat out race, 100-metere race, you would have me, Ben Godfrey, probably Jarrad Branthwaite and I probably have to throw Richie [Richarlison] in there."

Branthwaite is hoping to push his way back into Carlo Ancelotti's first-team after a recent spell out with an ankle injury.

The Wigton prospect has made five first-team appearances since his move from Carlisle last January, and last week features for the Toffees' Under-23s in their Premier League 2 1-1 draw against Blackburn.

Branthwaite also recently trained with the England Under-19 squad along with fellow Cumbrian James Trafford, the Manchester City goalkeeper who is from Greysouthen near Cockermouth.

The young defender's remarkable rise was recently charted in a special report by the News & Star.
